Writers Needed for Writers in the Schools Program
WRITERS NEEDED!The Writers in the Schools Program, an educational program of The Writer's Garret, is coming to Fort Worth! The Writer's Garret is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization serving readers and writers throughout the Metroplex. Last year we worked with over 3,000 students in Metroplex schools and we are now a provider for many YMCA facilities planning after school activities for their area school campuses. Thanks to the interest of Fort Worth YMCAs we will be developing a Fort Worth program, but in order to do so we will need to recruit a Writer/Instructor team in Fort Worth. Based upon your experience teaching writing to children of all ages, we will provide training and resources, including a paid Apprentice program that will provide an opportunity to work and train with Instructors who have worked with children in groups in creative writing topics. These are flexible, contract positions which usually take place during after-school program hours (3-5 pm) and can meet one day a week or multiple days a week, depending on the school. We work with you on locations, days, and times, which makes this program one of the most flexible options for busy writers who enjoy sharing their passion for writing with children and/or need extra income. Interviews and trainings will be held in Ft. Worth. Please call or email Sue Glenn, Assistant Director, The Writer's Garret, for more information and to sign up for a Fort Worth Orientation.
