Meeting of March 26, 2008

The regular Wednesday night meeting of the workshop began with the welcoming of 3 visitors. Then it was off to the stats:

Rejections: 2

Acceptances: Alex Martinez announced that he has a new publisher; Yvonne Isaacs had an agent request for sample chapter and book proposal; April Rose Holman had a report approved.

Submissions: Jessica Eldredge submitted a magazine article, Curtis Bales sent the 5th of his books to a new publisher, Sonja Cassella submitted several short stores; Iris Acuff sent in work to a potential collaborator, and Jo Lightfoot submitted 3 poems to a contest.

Announcements:


Georgette, our friend from Barnes and Noble North Richland Hills, announced that the store will be moving to the other side of the freeway. The new store is where Nordstrom Rack once stood, right next to Best Buy. She is sending invitations for their pre-opening party to all DFWWW members. The party will be held May 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be a display about DFWWW at the party.

Writer’s League of Texas conference June 20-22. A group of DFWWW members plan to attend as a group and share some costs. See Sonja Cassella for more information.

Booksigning: It's a "Texas Author Event" at the Lewisville Barnes and Noble, from 2-4 p.m. this Saturday, March 29. Candy Havens, Rosemary Clement-Moore, and Alex Martinez will be signing, among others.

General member announcements – please pay your 2008 dues if you haven’t already done so. Also, Steve Manning is collecting a list of member websites to be posted on this site.

July 2 - July Business Meeting. The business meeting will be held at the beginning of the regular meeting at 7 p.m.

July 9 & every second Saturday - North Texas Speculative Fiction Workshop meets every 2nd Saturday at the North Richland Hills Barnes & Noble at 6 pm, free & open to all SF/F/H writers. 

Every Wednesday - Regular Workshop meeting. Details

Every Wednesday - After-meeting gathering at IHOP.
From right after the meeting until 11 or 11:30 p.m., members gather for a late dinner or just a cup of coffee and conversation. Guests and members are welcome. Directions from the meeting location

July 16 & every third Wednesday - Poetry night at the regular meeting. Members interested in writing poetry will split off into a separate group during critiques.
