A. Lee Martinez interview

There's no date, so I'm not sure when this interview was posted, but here's an entertaining and of course, insightful interview with member A. Lee Martinez I found on the Web.

Words and pictures by member Sarah Mensinga

The Workshop has recently been treated to something new and fascinating: We've gotten the opportunity to critique a graphic novel being created by member Sarah Mensinga. It's been a learning experience for us all.

Sarah's work is being featured in a comic anthology, and you can get a look at it through these links.

20 Worst Agencies list

Found this interesting list of agencies to treat with caution, put together by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Some of these are listed in Writer's Market, which is disappointing. You might want to refer to this list before you send out that next query.

Whidbey Writers Workshop

Announcing the Whidbey Writers Workshop Students' Choice Award:
Short Forms

Students at the Whidbey Writers Workshop low-residency MFA have fallen in love with the short form. If you are the first writer in any month to knock our judge's socks off, in 1000 words or fewer, we'll send you $50 and publish your short piece on our website. As of this week, we have our first cold-footed judge and a check is in the mail to a writer in New Jersey.

A student judge will start reading email entries on the first day of next month. As soon as one renders the judge bare-footed, a Student Choice will be declared and all subsequent entries that month will be deleted. On the first day of the next month, the cycle repeats. There is no entry fee and the same piece may be submitted multiple months.

Please see our website http://www.whidbeystudents.com for full guidelines.
