Langdon Weekend in Granbury, Sept. 5-8

Langdon Weekend
September 5-8, 2007
Granbury, Texas

It's hard for me to believe that this will be our fourth Langdon Weekend. For us the greatest joy is to see artists, writers, and readers getting together to share their art with others. This year, the Langdon Weekend will again be hosted by the Langdon Center, and we will again unveil the newest edition of the Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas.

We're asking for proposals for sessions or individual presentations. Because of our schedules, we have to set an early deadline for suggestions for June 10, but we are most certainly interested in hearing from you and others about suggestions. Please send these to me via email, and I will acknowledge receipt of your proposals as soon as I receive them.

The Workshop meets every week... regardless!

The weather tried very hard to keep us from meeting last night, to no avail. Our board of directors resolutely continued its weighty discussions, shrugging off the pounding of rain on the roof and ear-splitting thunder. We laughed at the danger and persisted even as the power went out, came back, and then went out for good.

More than twenty members showed up, despite the approaching storm. As the time for the regular meeting rolled around, we milled about in the dark and watched the wind and lightning, waiting for the lights to come back on. They didn't. We opted to delay our business meeting a week, but we held the regular meeting and listened to rejections, acceptances, submissions and announcements, including member Ginnie Siena Bivona's astounding four acceptances in one week!

Without light, we were unable to do read and critique, so it was a short meeting. But many of us reconvened at IHOP. This is another chapter in the Workshop's long and storied history of refusing to allow meetings to be canceled. This January, seven of us met in the middle of an ice storm. One year, four members met on Christmas Day. When we say every Wednesday, we're not kidding.
