Meeting report of March 5, 2008

Our monthly business meeting went off without a hitch, and in fact there was no new business, no unfinished old business, and no committee reports.

However, the “Rogues Gallery” of submission events went off at about the usual speed, to wit:

Rejections: Only two were owned up to.

Acceptances: Ginny Bivona has a new book coming out; Del Cain had a poem accepted by the Austin International Poetry Festival; and A. Lee Martinez had a book review of Automatic Detective in a mystery magazine.

Submissions: Anne Perry submitted two short stories; Chris Lee Moore submitted a synopsis and five pages to an agent; Curtis Bales submitted several previously published novels to a British publisher which has requested them; and Kendall Furlong submitted three short stories.

President Steve Manning announced that photos from the conference are available for on-line viewing and he also had prints at the meeting. He described the conference as “one of the coolest things I’ve ever done.” Planning for a new conference for 2009 has begun and recruiting for more than a dozen positions in the new conference are available. Steve hopes to have a date and location for the new conference decided by the end of the month.
