This year's contest judges
The entries are on the way to the judges. Judging the short story competition this year is the novelist Julianne Ardian Lee. She is the author of several romance novels with a sci-fi twist, including Sword of the White Rose, Son of the Sword, Knight Tenebrae and Knight's Blood. On the poetry side, Dr. Corey Marks of the University of North Texas will judge. His first book, Renunciation, was a National Poetry Series Open Competition winner published by University of Illinois Press. His poems appear in a number of journals including Antioch Review, Black Warrior Review, New England Review, The Paris Review, Raritan and TriQuarterly. We're fortunate to have such distinguished judges for this year's contest. Good luck to the contestants! Labels: Contests

Time to enter our annual Poetry & Short Story Competition
It's back by popular demand! Our Poetry & Short Story Competition is judged by outside experts. It's open both to the public and to Workshop members. Deadline for submission is Aug. 29 -- that's when it has to be in our mailbox. The winners will be announced in October, and we'll have a public reading of the winners at the North Richland Hills Barnes and Noble, as we have in previous years. There's a $15 entry fee for the short story competition, with a one-story limit. For the poetry side of the contest, it's $5 per poem, up to a limit of three poems. First place prize in each contest is $100. For more details such as submission requirements and mailing address, please download this Word document.Labels: Contests
The Workshop is looking for a new logo! So we're holding a contest, open to the public, with a prize of $200 for the winner. We're looking for something contemporary and sophisticiated but dignified. The design must contain the phrase "DFW Writers' Workshop." The deadline for design submissions is July 16, 2007. More detailed specifications and submission instructions are in this PDF. Good luck!
